Trigger points are an extremely common cause of pain. Trigger Point Massage (TPM) is a touch therapy, which focuses on the muscles. When stressed or injured, muscles form trigger points, like contracted knots, which cause pain and tightness.
Muscles make up between 36-42% of our body weight and therefore have a large impact on our health and wellbeing especially when under stress. Our muscles allow us to make movements and perform normal activities with ease. However, when there is a problem, the brain sends (pain) signals to your body.
Trigger points are painful when pressed on. It causes a shortening of the muscle fibres, and has a special property called referred pain which means that a trigger point in one muscle can create pain in another area. For example when the muscle at the top of your shoulder has a trigger point it will refer pain up the side of your neck and head causing a headache.
Trigger Point Massage is the manipulation and stretching of your soft tissue and detoxifies your body from the accumulated and congested energy and is a natural and healthy way to support the body, mind and soul to maintain Health and Wellness.
